The Hammers have really missed the powerful 30-year-old attacker since he suffered a hamstring injury against Manchester City in October.

Michail Antonio returned briefly against Aston Villa in November but has been absent ever since after aggravating his troublesome hamstring.

Sebastien Haller has deputised for the former Nottingham Forest man. Whatever you think of the Ivorian, I think we can all agree that we are quite simply not the same team when he plays instead of Antonio.

If we are to enjoy any kind of success this season it will be absolutely vital for the 30-year-old to return to action as soon as possible.

ExWHUemployee shares news we all want to hear

We face Southampton at St Mary’s tomorrow. And ExWHUemployee has claimed that Michail Antonio should be fit to take part in the game.

What a boost that will be for David Moyes, the players and the fans after yesterday’s rotten performance against Brighton at the London Stadium.

Sure, he may not be fit to start the game. But it seems as though Antonio is very close to being ready to play a huge part for West Ham once again.

Hopefully David Moyes won’t run him into the ground again, however.
