Everton have confirmed star man Jordan Pickford will miss the West Ham match this weekend as a big chance Begs to be taken.
West Ham have won just one of their opening six games and sit in the bottom three of the fledgling Premier League table ahead of the trip to Goodison Park.
David Moyes returns to his old club Everton who are led by former West Ham academy graduate Frank Lampard.
Everton have four points like the Hammers but are actually yet to win a game this season.
Both sides will be desperate to get all three points and alleviate any early pressure.
West Ham go into the Everton game off the back of a nervy 3-2 win away at Silkeborg in the Europa Conference League last night.
Moyes has a near fully fit squad to choose from with only Nayef Aguerd still out of action.
The same cannot be said for the Toffees, though, and West Ham must try to take advantage.
Everton have confirmed star man Jordan Pickford will miss the West Ham match as a big chance Begs to be taken.
Because Pickford’s replacement for the West Ham game will be 35-year-old veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
And he will undoubtedly be rusty having played only THREE games in the Premier League in the last FIVE years.
Everton have signed free agent goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic after the injury to Pickford, which has also kept him out of the latest England squad named yesterday (Liverpool Echo).
With Begovic in goal for Lampard’s side, Moyes and West Ham simply must go for it at Goodison Park.
Yes Begovic has been around the block but his lack of match action for so long means the Hammers really have to put it on the Bosnian from the off.
Pickford is undoubtedly Everton’s star player so this is a real chance for West Ham to start building some momentum after a slow start to the Premier League.
Moyes has an excellent squad Lampard could only wish for right now.
Let’s hope his forwards can put Begovic to the test come Sunday. Another thunderbolt from Gianluca Scamacca would come in very handy indeed.
