‘Bare bones’ were the dreaded words of a seriously concerned David Moyes about West Ham’s £173.5m injury crisis after a new blow to duo.

West Ham secured a point at home against Chelsea but the game looks to have come at a huge cost for Moyes.

Joao Felix gave Chelsea the lead after yet another shocking start to the game from West Ham.

But Emerson equalised against his old club with a tap-in at the far post to secure the point for the Hammers.

A big dampener was put on the match and a positive point for Moyes and West Ham, though.

Because there was a double blow for West Ham as key stars Lucas Paqueta and Nayef Aguerd added to the queue for the treatment room in the draw with Chelsea.

Paqueta was forced off after falling on his shoulder early after just 10 minutes played. West Ham’s £51m signing was kept out for several weeks with a collarbone injury before the World Cup break.

So West Ham will be deeply concerned about the extent of the injury which saw the Brazilian unable to play on.

To add insult to injury, quite literally, another absolutely crucial West Ham star, Aguerd, was forced off late in the second half with what Moyes has confirmed is a groin problem.

Having sold Craig Dawson and with Kurt Zouma also out injured, Aguerd’s knock is a particular worry.

It means West Ham now currently have Zouma (£30m), Areola (£10m), Gianluca Scamacca (£35m), Maxwel Cornet (£17.5m), Paqueta (£51m) and Aguerd (£30m) sidelined.

‘Bare bones’ were the words from Moyes who is seriously concerned about West Ham’s £173.5m injury crisis after the new blow to key duo Paqueta and Aguerd.

“I’ve not seen the medical team yet, so I couldn’t tell you what either Paquetá or Nayef Aguerd got,” Moyes has told whufc.com.

“But, look, we can’t afford any more injuries, that’s for sure.

“Certainly not at centre-half, where we’re down to the bare bones and we’re needing them all fit with the games we’ve got coming up.

“We’ve got to hope they’re okay.”
