An absolutely crushing new claim has been made about an injury to West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca which could prove disastrous.
Just a few days ago things were really starting to look up for West Ham.
The Hammers signed Danny Ings and got a much-needed first win in eight Premier League games to breathe some life into a torrid campaign.
The victory came at a cost when it emerged Ings had sustained a knee injury less than 24 hours after being unveiled by West Ham.

With £35m summer signing Scamacca already out with a knee injury – and given West Ham’s problem with scoring goals – that was a huge concern.
There was relief then when it was claimed Scamacca could be back for the home game against Chelsea in a few weeks and Ings a week or so after.
But an absolutely crushing new claim has been made about the injury to West Ham striker Scamacca which could prove disastrous.
According to 90min there are ‘ongoing concerns’ over the Scamacca injury with extent of the problem being kept under wraps by West Ham.
And while Scamacca has been pencilled in for the Chelsea clash, it is claimed that sources have told 90min there are ‘genuine concerns’ the 24-year-old could be sidelined for anywhere between six to 10 weeks.

“As if Ings’ injury wasn’t bad enough, there are ongoing concerns over the fitness of Gianluca Scamacca…” 90min reports.
“Some sources have told 90min that Scamacca could return to action when West Ham take on Chelsea in the Premier League, but there are also genuine concerns that the 24-year-old could be sidelined for anywhere between six and 10 weeks – a situation that suggests the issue is far from straightforward.”
If that proves to be the case then West Ham are in serious danger. And David Moyes will be all too aware.
Scamacca may not have set the world alight since his move but is the club’s top scorer this season.
If he misses 10 weeks it means he will sit out over half of the remaining games as the Hammers battle to beat the drop.
As the report states it does seem rather ominous that West Ham have not provided an official update on the striker’s injury.
We can only hope the report is relaying the worst case scenario and that it does not come to that.
Otherwise West Ham will surely have to go for another forward in what remains of the January window.
