Viborg posted a message on social media after bowing out of the Europa Conference League and West Ham have responded.

West Ham are through to the group stages of European competition for the second consecutive season following a 6-1 aggregate victory over Viborg FF.

The Hammers took a 3-1 lead to Denmark after the first leg at the London Stadium last week and were hot favourites to make it through.

Viborg more than held their own against their expensively assembled Premier League opponents over the two legs even if the scoreline suggests otherwise.

The Danes were solid, played some good football and had some clear cut chances over the two legs.

West Ham’s superior quality told in the end with a 3-0 lead on the night in Viborg killing the tie.

The Hammers will now enter the group stage draw which takes place on Friday, guaranteeing another six European matches to be squeezed in between now and the November 12th break for the World Cup.

Not only did our Danish hosts show their class on the pitch over the two legs, but off it too.

“Congratulations West Ham,” Viborg’s official account posted on Twitter, tagging the Hammers in alongside a handshake emoji.

“Good luck with your season.”

West Ham responded with a fist bump, saying: “Thanks, Viborg FF! Good luck with the rest of your season.”

What a classy gesture from Viborg whose people, by all accounts from travelling Hammers, were also excellent hosts in and around the town too.

Goals from Gianluca Scamacca, his second in as many starts for West Ham, Said Benrahma – following a second assist in as many starts for Maxwel Cornet – and Tomas Soucek secured safe passage for Moyes and his men.

West Ham will now be hoping to try and take some of their European scoring form into the Premier League where they are the only team yet to register a point or a goal.
