While that’s no guarantee he will stay, Bowen hardly sounded like a player already thinking about his next move.

Indeed, Bowen loves playing for West Ham and watching him stay next season would be a genuinely heartwarming story.
Still, even if he did want to continue his journey here in east London, there’s no guarantee it would happen.

West Ham may need to sell players to raise money this summer, having lost all the revenue opportunities that being in the Premier League naturally brings. According to The Sun, they could need to raise as much as £100million.
Though Bowen is not the only sellable asset in the West Ham United squad, he is certainly one of the more high profile figures in the ranks.

At 29, a big offer would have to be considered even if he did want to stay. Stripping away all the emotion, selling a player approaching 30 on a big contract after dropping into the Championship does make sense.
That is not a nice reading of the situation. Football should be about emotion, but the modern game does sometimes call for it to be overlooked.
Bowen would surely be a Championship cheat code
If he were to stay, Bowen would surely fill his boots in the Championship. This is a player who has amassed almost 20 Premier League goal contributions in a largely dreadful team, after all.
Keeping him is surely the best way to at least try to ensure that the club return to the proverbial promised land at the first time of asking. Having a player that good in the second tier – with all due respect to its quality – is as close to a cheat code as one can get.
A transfer saga will almost certainly unfold over Bowen’s future this summer.
