Please forgive me if this comes across as utter rubbish, but I’ve always wanted to get my point across about my beloved West Ham Football Club in a blog or even a book ever since I read The Legacy of Barry Green by Robert Banks! It’s a great book by the way. Anyway, I digress.
So I’m hoping that this does that dream justice. So where shall I start? Perhaps with Saturday’s must win game against fellow strugglers Fulham.
I personally think we should cause Martin Jol’s men a lot of trouble and have a fantastic record at home against them. But like every other fan, whether you’re a season ticket holder like me or just a hardcore fan, the main question is who is going to get our goals?
Now I’m a huge fan of Ravel Morrison, his recent performances have been fantastic! I actually think he is the most skillful English player to wear the claret and blue since Joey Cole burst on the screen, if not better!
However, we can’t rely on a guy to has only played Twelve Premiership games to be our main man in front of goal in my opinion! He is a wonderful talent and I for one am over the moon he plays for us but others have to step up.
Enter club captain Kevin Nolan, I’ve fought his case the last two years he has been at the club and believe justifiably so cos he scored goals and ok wasn’t prolific but still scored vital goals at vital times. This year however, it hasn’t happened. Ok, yes Andy Carroll (another subject for another day perhaps) hasn’t played for us this season but Nolan scored when Andy wasn’t in the team last year so no excuse this year! Now I’m not one for booing our own players but we Hammers fans love to see the players fight & for my Kevin is to busy arguing with the ref or opposition. Perhaps being dropped will be just the kick up the arse he needs?
The issue is we aren’t starting a forward and in my opinion, we haven’t so far. Maiga for me isn’t a forward! Less said about him the better from me. Just not a fan!! We should never have started him, his miss against Chelsea says it all. Big Sam should’ve signed another forward…that simple!! His flaw was saying Carroll would be his number one no matter what, when every other top manager says you fight for your place in the team! In my opinion, we should’ve signed a Ba or a Remy or Lukaku on loan and if they were both fit, fight for their place.
Anyway, I digress. Going back to Saturday’s game, I fancy a 2-1 home win draw. I would start Jussi even though he had a shocker the last couple of games. Why can’t he defend free-kicks? Four goals now! O’Brien at right back, Rat at left back, with Ginge and Tomkins in the centre. We are going to miss Winston so much. He is our Vidic or Terry! Desperate to get him back.
In the centre midfield, I would start Diame as he was brilliant last year and this is his natural position, Noble (who is one of my favourite players at the moment) and Ravel. On the wing, I would have Jarvis and Downing with Carlton Cole! I’m not a Cole fan particularly but we need a presence up there! And with Nolan, Joey Cole and Jack Collison on the bench that should keep the players on their toes.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this. I appreciate everyone has their own opinion, this is just mine.
Come on you Irons, I will always be forever blowing bubbles!
