West Ham ace Mark Noble suggested that he was gutted for Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian, after the goalkeeper made a howler against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night, when writing his weekly column for the Evening Standard.
The 33-year-old joined the Reds in the summer on a free transfer, after his contract had expired with the Hammers.
Adrian had a successful six-year spell with West Ham, having joined on a free transfer from Real Betis in the summer of 2013.
The Spaniard racked up 150 appearances for the east London outfit, keeping 43 clean sheets in the process (Transfermarkt).
He was a popular figure amongst Hammers fans, and many were sad to see him leave last summer.
Adrian made a decent start to his Liverpool career, providing solid cover for Alisson Becker.
But he made an absolute howler against Atleti on Wednesday night. And it ended up gifting the Spaniards a passage into the last eight of the competition.
And West Ham skipper Mark Noble told the Evening Standard how gutted he was for his former teammate:
“Obviously we know Adrian well from his time at West Ham. And I was gutted for him after he made the error which led to Atletico scoring in extra-time.”
Adrian will be feeling very low following his error two days ago.
But with football being shut down for at least three weeks, he will have time to work hard in training and get over it.
The Liverpool ace is a very solid goalkeeper. But West Ham fans will be the first to tell you that he always had a mistake or two in him.
