West Ham player ratings vs Arsenal; Ogbonna immense, Antonio struggles

West Ham looked a constant threat against Arsenal today.

How on earth the Hammers didn’t take anything from the game is a mystery.

It was actually a fairly impressive all around display, but David Moyes’s side were just not clinical enough in the final third.

Here’s how we think each player fared individually…

Lukasz Fabianski – 8

This was more like the Pole that we know and love. After his Liverpool horror show a couple of weeks ago, Fabianski has returned to his best form. Made numerous important saves today, but was helpless to stop Alexandre Lacazette’s winner.

Aaron Cresswell – 8

The experienced left-back was very impressive today. Hardly put a foot wrong, and dealt with Nicolas Pepe very easily all afternoon.

Jeremy Ngakia – 6

Looked nervous at times and was guilty of being found out of position on several occasions. He is still very young, however, and will undoubtedly improve as time goes on.

Issa Diop – 7

The Frenchman seems to have really improved in recent weeks. He was very solid today and seems to have forged an extremely strong partnership with Angelo Ogbonna.

Angelo Ogbonna – 8

The Italian was an absolute rock at the back once again. The 31-year-old has been superb this season. Definite HOTY contender.

Mark Noble – 6

The skipper didn’t do much wrong, but he didn’t really have much of a positive influence either. His lack of mobility is beginning to be a hindrance to West Ham’s play.

Declan Rice – 7

Mr consistent. Another faultless display from the England international. He never shirks a tackle, and is very important to the Hammers.

Pablo Fornals – 7

Worked his socks off yet again. Split open the Arsenal defence in the first-half with a wonderful ball which Michail Antonio failed to take advantage of.

Jarrod Bowen – 7

The former Hull City man impressed again for West Ham with his work ethic and commitment. Bowen failed to have too much of an impact in the final third, however. It does seem as though the 23-year-old needs to improve upon his decision making.

Sebastien Haller – 6

The Frenchman squandered one great opportunity in the first-half when through on goal, and should have made a more intelligent run when Michail Antonio broke free down the right early on in the game. He still seems to lack the physicality needed to succeed in the Premier League.

Michail Antonio – 6

One of the 29-year-old’s poorer displays today. Nothing came off for Antonio, but he still put himself about physically and caused problems for the Arsenal back-line.

Tomas Soucek (on for Mark Noble, 82) – NA

The Czech made a timely return from injury as a late sub but couldn’t really get into the game.

Felipe Anderson (on for Pablo Fornals, 87) – NA

The Brazilian looked uninterested when he came on, and he really needs to raise his game for the final nine games this season.

Robert Snodgrass (on for Jarrod Bowen, 90) – NA

Was brought on for his set-piece ability, but didn’t have an impact.
