West Ham legend Phil Parkes absolutely slates Roberto

West Ham legend Phil Parkes sat down for an exclusive interview with Claret and Hugh, and absolutely slated Hammers stopper Roberto.

The Spaniard joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer of 2019, but he has proven to be a total flop at the London Stadium.

Roberto came on in place of Lukasz Fabianski against Bournemouth at the end of September, after the Pole suffered a torn hip muscle.

The 33-year-old has gone on to start the next five Premier League games for West Ham. And he has let in 11 goals in the process.

It is clear to see that the former Espanyol and Malaga man is just not good enough for the top flight.

He has already let the Hammers down on numerous occasions.

And West Ham legend Phil Parkes did not hold back in his criticism of Roberto, when speaking exclusively to Claret and Hugh:

“Let it be said, I don’t like him at all and to be honest he doesn’t even look like a goalkeeper to me – he looks like an outfield player who has somehow found his way between the sticks. We might have got away with him over a couple of games but the idea of him being in there until January is a serious worry and it’s hardly any wonder the team is suffering a crisis of confidence.”

Time for a change…

Fabianski is still expected to be out for another six weeks or so.

Next up for West Ham is a home game against Tottenham after the international break, and surely David Martin must be given a chance ahead of Roberto.

The Spaniard’s confidence will be rock bottom, and the real problem is that his flappable nature and uncertainty between the sticks is starting to transmit to the rest of the team.

He absolutely must be taken out of the firing line. For the good of both himself and the team.
