Sebastien Haller has been incredibly disappointing since joining West Ham from Eintracht Frankfurt for £45 million in the summer.
The 25-year-old has scored just six goals in 22 appearances for the Hammers thus far.
The Frenchman looks totally devoid of confidence. But in order to start finding the net more consistently, he really does have to start doing more without the ball.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Haller is a really imposing figure, But he just doesn’t make enough of a nuisance of himself.
And West Ham insider ExWHUemployee hit the nail on the head last night, as he embarked on a Twitter rant regarding the former Eintracht Frankfurt hitman:
Everything Ex said is spot on.
Whilst Haller does look decent in the air, he has offered zero presence inside the 18-yard box. Just think how Didier Drogba or Alan Shearer used to physically bully opposing defenders.
The 25-year-old Hammers front-man is a million miles away from that at the moment.
Haller clearly needs to show more aggression and tenacity. If he isn’t scoring goals, he needs to be creating space for his teammates by dragging opposing defenders out of position.
And the Frenchman generally just needs to up his work-rate.
It is still very early to judge Haller, but the early signs aren’t great. The striker has a long way to go if he is to be successful in the Premier League with West Ham.
