Some West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to suggest that they are not happy with Ryan Fredericks’ performances this season.
The 26-year-old joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer of 2018. He had just experienced a sensational season in the Championship with Fulham.
And he arrived at the London Stadium with a big reputation.
Fredericks really has been disappointing for West Ham, however.
The Englishman possesses absolutely blistering pace. But he never seems to utilise it.
The former Fulham man is clearly lacking confidence, but he needs to be more proactive in his play.
A big problem for West Ham, however, is that Manuel Pellegrini only has Pablo Zabaleta in reserve, so Fredericks really isn’t being pushed sufficiently.
He seems to have all the makings of a top player, but it could be argued that maybe the Premier League is just too much of a step up for him. Perhaps a little harsh, but something certainly worth thinking about.
