West Ham fans slate Ryan Fredericks’ display vs Brighton

West Ham threw three points away at home to Brighton today, drawing the game 3-3 having led 3-1 after 57 minutes.

On the most part, the Hammers played very well, for the first 60 minutes of the game at least. But not everyone was on song.

Ryan Fredericks has been incredibly poor this season, and has been out injured since the start of January.

The 27-year-old returned to action against the Seagulls today, however.

And despite a couple of decent bursts into the Brighton half, the Englishman was largely anonymous. It’s not even as though he played badly. He just needs to show more.

Fredericks has all of the attributes needed to succeed as a modern day full-back. The former Fulham man possesses blistering pace, is strong in the challenge and has plenty of energy.

But he just doesn’t use those qualities to his advantage on a consistent enough basis. And that is what really frustrates the West Ham fans.

If the 27-year-old remains fit for the remainder of the campaign, hopefully he can rediscover the fine form he displayed whilst at Fulham. He just needs to put himself about a bit more.

Some West Ham fans took to Twitter and criticised Fredericks for his display vs Brighton today…
