West Ham took on Liverpool at the London Stadium tonight, and the league leaders continued their imperious form with a comfortable win.
In truth, the Hammers were never expected to get anything from the game. On the most part, however, they put in a decent shift.
But one player in particular bore the brunt of the West Ham fans’ frustrations – Issa Diop.
The 23-year-old joined the Hammers from Toulouse in the summer of 2018, for a fee believed to be worth £22 million (BBC).
Diop, who earns £65,000 per week according to Football.London, immediately endeared himself to the West Ham fans, and impressed during his debut campaign in England.
The Frenchman’s form has dipped this term, however.
He has made 18 Premier League appearances for the Hammers this season, and has a really poor tackle success rate of just 55%. The 23-year-old has also only made 24 interceptions and has racked up zero blocked shots. (premierleague.com).
And he was once again in poor form against Liverpool tonight. Diop was reckless when bringing Divock Origi down in the box in the first-half and Mohamed Salah dispatched the ensuing penalty.
Some West Ham fans took to Twitter to criticise the French centre-back…
