West Ham ace Declan Rice played for England against Kosovo last night, and Roy Keane was highly critical of the 20-year-old.
Rice has been excellent for the Hammers over the past 16 months or so.
His fine form has seen him earn seven international caps for England. And that in itself has caused the West Ham ace to receive criticism, having represented the Republic of Ireland at youth level.
It seems as though the former Chelsea academy graduate is the target for criticism every time he plays for England.
And Keane did not hold back when asked about Rice’s weaknesses, as quoted by ITV Sport:
“Where do you want me to start? His positional play, I don’t think he has been consistent enough, he doesn’t stay with runners…”
Keane seems to make a living from being purposely controversial now.
Anyone in their right mind can see that Rice is already a top player. And the West Ham youngster will undoubtedly go on to become a truly elite performer.
Some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to Keane’s criticism of the 20-year-old last night…
Roy who!!! He’s the most miserable and negatine pundit ever why he’s on there I’ll never know 🤬Well done Declan 🙌🏼⚒

People who actually know their football knows what Declan brings to the game.

Seems to of been fairly widely criticised. Unfairly in my opinion but I am biased.
Hes a 20 year old playing for his country!!!
Get behind him!!!…….well done @_DeclanRice

Just needs to keep his head down and keep progressing!

The pundits should have concentrated on the likes of Oxelade & Trent who continually passed to the opposition & couldn’t control a bag of cement! Instead they fed an irate Irishman on a player who shunned Ireland! Biased tv again 😡

Why is Roy Keane always a pundit for @England games anyway ? May as well have Maradona too

— mark Scott-denness (@denzil1974) November 17, 2019
He wasn’t all that and I for one, wouldn’t bother biting any speel that keane like to speel!

Solid, 100% pass rate, a key pass for first and third goal, goal saving tackle. Positioning and awareness defending set pieces needs to improve. I doubt Declan needs me to tell him though!

Because he doesn’t play for Liverpool, Chelsea or the Spuds.
