According to a report from Claret and Hugh, West Ham Director of Football Mario Husillos could be sacked in the summer, after a succession of poor signings, and some Hammers fans reacted to the speculation.
The Argentine joined the east London outfit in the summer of 2018. And he has overseen signings such as Jack Wilshere, Roberto, Pablo Fornals, Lucas Perez and Carlos Sanchez.
There haven’t been many success stories amongst the West Ham signings over the past 18 months, and Husillos must be held accountable, as well as Manuel Pellegrini of course.
It also must be noted, however, that the Hammers board quite simply haven’t financially backed the South American duo in the manner that they should have recently.
Having said that, some of Husillos’s signings really do leave a lot to be desired. The additions of Carlos Sanchez and Roberto have been laughable, and that’s putting it politely.
Whether the Argentine sees out his contract with the Hammers remains to be seen, however.
And some West Ham fans took to Twitter in reaction to a report suggesting Husillos could be gone in the summer…
