West Ham were held to a 0-0 draw by Aston Villa last night, and some Hammers fans took to Twitter in reaction to Pablo Fornals’ display.
The Spaniard joined West Ham from Villarreal for around £24 million in the summer, but he has made a slow start to life at the London Stadium.
He was on the bench again last night, and came on after 62 minutes in place of Andriy Yarmolenko.
Fornals, who earns £60,000 per week according to Football Insider, seemed to be fairly slow and laboured in possession, however, and spurned two great chances late on in the game to give West Ham the lead.
The 23-year-old needs time to settle, however. It is quite simply too soon to judge the attacking midfielder.
Moving from La Liga to the Premier League is always a major step up in intensity, and Fornals arguably needs a full season with the Hammers before he showcases his true potential.
Rarely are players given that much time, however.
