West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini could be sacked if his side slip inside the bottom three, according to the Telegraph, and with Carlo Ancelotti having just been sacked from Napoli, the Italian could be a potential candidate to take over from the Chilean.

The experienced boss has had plenty of success in his day, but he has been sacked from his last two jobs at Napoli and Bayern Munich.

Hammers insider ExWHUemployee championed the idea the former Chelsea boss taking over at the London Stadium, however:

And the 60-year-old himself had great things to say about West Ham.

In 2011, Ancelotti responded when asked by the now defunct News of the World whether he would ever consider taking over as manager of the Hammers:

“I would coach West Ham – why not. It’s a challenge to manage a team outside of the top four and even in the Championship. The atmosphere at West Ham is amazing. I have respect for every team and the job of my colleagues. It is the same and it doesn’t matter if you can manage a top team or a smaller team. If a club said to me, ‘You can manage this club without money’, I’d have to decide whether to accept or not. Money is not a motivation. The money has never been a motivation for me.”

In his day, Ancelotti was one of the best managers around. But it could be argued that the Italian is already past his best.

West Ham desperately need their next managerial appointment to be right. The east London outfit should surely be looking at a young, innovative manager with ground-breaking philosophies and ideas.

They must have learnt their lesson from Pellegrini.

And many West Ham fans were not impressed by links with the three-time Champions League winning coach…
