Some West Ham fans have reacted angrily on Twitter to Steve Lomas’s comments suggesting that the club’s fans have been harsh on co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold.
The former Hammers skipper spoke exclusively to the Sun, and suggested that any mistakes that the two owners have made have not been intentional and certainly not done with any malice:
“Always be careful what you wish for. I’m sure David Gold and David Sullivan will admit they’ve made mistakes but I don’t think it’s out of malice. They don’t want the club struggling and anybody who thinks they do is an idiot.”
West Ham are in real trouble at the moment. David Moyes’s men are currently sitting in 18th spot in the Premier League table, one point adrift of safety.
They have some incredibly difficult games coming up over the next six weeks or so too.
And most Hammers fans have pointed the finger of blame squarely at the clubs owners.
Sullivan and Gold may point to the money they have spent over the past few years as proof that they genuinely want to take the club forward.
They cannot be forgiven for failing to replace the likes of Pedro Obiang, Cheikhou Kouyate and Javier Hernandez, however.
And whilst that was maybe not malicious, it was certainly negligent from the duo.
