West Ham got their season off the ground belatedly with a 3-1 win over Everton on Sunday afternoon.
However, one of their former stars also enjoyed a good day yesterday, as Dimitri Payet scored an outstanding goal for Marseille.
The Ligue 1 outfit ran out comfortable 4-0 winners in their home match against Guincamp. All of the goals came in the second half and the undoubted highlight was Payet’s sumptuous volley on 73 minutes.
On the same afternoon that Andriy Yarmolenko netted twice to show signs that he can provide some of the flair that has been missing since Payet left east London, the Frenchman showed what he is still capable of.
It got some West Ham fans feeling that they miss the controversial playmaker, who of course left the club in acrimonious circumstances…
