West Ham’s under-23 side drew 2-2 with Stoke City at the London Stadium yesterday, and some Hammers fans raved about Xande Silva’s performance.
The result saw the east Londoners stretch their lead over Manchester United at the top of the table to three points, although they have played a game more than the Red Devils.
West Ham have really impressed at youth level this season. And they have done most of their work without Silva.
The 22-year-old hitman has only just returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but has already scored two goals in two games (Transfermarkt).
The Hammers signed the Portuguese youngster from Vitoria de Guimaraes in the summer of 2018, for a fee that could eventually rise to £3.1 million (talkSPORT).
Silva has made just two senior appearances for the club thus far, however. He has been prolific at under-23 level though, with eight goals in 10 appearances (Transfermarkt).
Perhaps he deserves a chance to prove himself in the first-team. Especially considering the fact that David Moyes has little to choose form in the centre-forward department.
