West Ham brought in Tomas Soucek on loan for the remainder of the season three days ago, and have an option to buy the midfielder in the summer.

The Czech ace made his debut for the club against Brighton today, and some Hammers fans were very impressed with his display:

At 6ft 4in tall Soucek is a big old unit. He scored 12 goals in 26 appearances for Slavia Prague this season (Transfermarkt). And judging by his display today, it’s easy to see why.

The 24-year-old got inside the opposition’s box at every opportunity, and did most of his best work in behind Sebastien Haller.

He made 16 passes, had two shots on goal, made four tackles, three interceptions and two clearances, according to premierleague.com.

It will obviously take the 25-capped Czech Republic some time to adjust to the frenetic pace of the Premier League. But the early signs seem very good.

West Ham were crying out for more energy and physicality in the middle of the park before Soucek arrived at the club earlier this week. And the giant 24-year-old has certainly brought that with him in abundance.

Hopefully he will continue to get better and better.
