West Ham were swept aside 2-0 by Manchester City last night. And if we’re being honest, the result could have been a lot worse for the Hammers.
David Moyes set up his team with absolutely zero attacking intent – something that invited City to attack at every opportunity.
Not many West Ham players put in a good performance.
But there was one who covered himself in glory – Declan Rice.
The 21-year-old has been West Ham’s best and most consistent player by a long way over the past 20 months or so.
He is one of the few players who actually have any spirit or fight, along with Michail Antonio, Angelo Ogbonna and Lukasz Fabianski.
West Ham are in real trouble, and David Moyes needs all of his players to take a leaf out of Rice’s book.
The England international will surely want to move on if the Hammers do in fact get relegated this season. And Moyes is allegedly open to selling him, according to Claret and Hugh.
Let’s hope we stay up and Rice stays on.
Some West Ham fans took to Twitter in praise of the 21-year-old’s display at the Etihad last night…
