Chris Sutton suggested that the West Ham fans are not helping the club’s current situation, and that he has sympathy for the owners, when speaking on BBC Radio Five Live’s The Monday Club programme on Monday night.

And some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to his comments.

The east London outfit are in real trouble. There is no denying that fact. They are currently sitting in 18th spot in the Premier League table, one point adrift of safety.

And things could be set to get a whole lot worse for them. West Ham’s next two games are away matches against the top two – Manchester City and Liverpool.

The following five are against a resurgent Southampton, Arsenal, Wolves, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Hammers fans have every right to be upset. There is absolutely zero transparency from the board, and it seems as though every promise made by them is broken.

The atmosphere at the London Stadium has been bordering on toxic in recent weeks and months.

And Sutton suggested that he has sympathy for the West Ham owners, whilst criticising the club’s fans, when speaking on BBC Radio Five Live’s The Monday Club programme on Monday night:

“It’s not an easy place to play is it. The problem at the club at the moment is everybody is blaming each other and that’s a massive problem. It’s a club in turmoil. I’ve got sympathy for the owners because the fans aren’t helping. Moaning and groaning and giving the players stick is not helping the team at this moment in time. I think there are massive problems, it’s only going to get worse with the fixtures coming up. However bad it’s been, however bad they’re performing they need the fans, whether they’re angry about the stadium, the owners, the managerial appointment, they have to get behind the team.”

And some Hammers fans reacted angrily on Twitter to the BBC pundit’s comments…
