West Ham signed Sebastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2019 for £45 million (BBC).
The 25-year-old has desperately failed to establish himself at the London Stadium, however.
Haller has racked up just six goals and two assists in 26 games for the Hammers this season (Transfermarkt).
Sure, it could be argued that he hasn’t received the right kind of service. And there have also been suggestions that he needs to play as part of a two-pronged attack to be successful.
Just look at his success with Eintracht Frankfurt last season when playing alongside Luka Jovic. The Frenchman racked up 20 goals and 12 assists in 41 games for the German side (Transfermarkt).
Having said all of that, it is clear for every West Ham fan to see that Haller is just not doing enough. The 25-year-old isn’t offering any kind of presence up front for the Hammers, and his work-rate is often well below what it should be.
Haller stands at 6ft 3 in tall, yet he doesn’t make enough of a nuisance of himself in the air. He really does need to watch a tape of how Michail Antonio plays to gain some inspiration of what makes a successful forward in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old has failed to create a single big chance this season, has a poor shooting accuracy percentage of just 45% and has missed five big chances (premierleague.com).
