West Ham are eyeing a summer swoop for Brentford hitman Ollie Watkins, according to a report from the Sun, and some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.
The 24-year-old has been in sensational form for the Bees so far this season, with 22 goals in 36 Championship games to his name. He has also chalked up three assists (Who Scored).
In those matches, the striker has won two aerial duals on average per game. He has also averaged 2.6 shots and 0.7 dribbles (Who Scored).
Watkins is young, hungry and full of energy. And he would seemingly be the ideal fit for the Hammers.
In truth, the Brentford ace is exactly the kind of player West Ham should be targeting. A hungry striker with something to prove in the Premier League. And he probably wouldn’t demand a massive salary either.
The prospect of Watkins playing alongside Jarrod Bowen and Sebastien Haller is undoubtedly a tantalising one for the Hammers faithful.
