West Ham boss David Moyes suggested that he will not rush Jarrod Bowen into the team, when speaking to Sky Sports yesterday, and some Hammers fans have taken to Twitter in response to the Scot’s comments.

The 23-year-old moved to the London Stadium from Hull City on transfer deadline day last month for around £22 million (The Daily Mail).

Bowen is yet to play for West Ham, however. He was ineligible for the Hammers home game against Brighton on February 1st, and Moyes’s men haven’t played since.

The 23-year-old was on fire for Hull in the Championship this season, racking up 16 goals and seven assists in 29 games (Who Scored).

West Ham desperately need him to hit the ground running, and continue the form that he showed for the Tigers this term.

“I have been pleased with what I have seen from Jarrod. He’s obviously had loads of games, it’s not as if he’s short of match practice or match fitness in any way. But I am also wary of putting the boys in too quickly. I have had lots of boys from the Championship in the past and I think it’s important that you put them in at the right time, the right moments, and we will just take our time and see when it’s right for Jarrod. We need goals, he can do that. I am also very aware that we don’t need to put pressure on him too quickly.”

Moyes’s comments are rather strange, considering how much West Ham paid for Bowen. And just how good he has been during the first half of the season.
