Reported West Ham target Unai Nunez has a €30 million release clause according to Spanish media outlet El Correo.

The Hammers were linked with a move for the Athletic Bilbao centre-back in January, according to Spanish publication AS. A move obviously failed to materialise, however.

West Ham should be looking to bolster their central defensive ranks in the summer.

Angelo Ogbonna will be 32 in May, whilst the futures of Winston Reid and Issa Diop are far from certain at the moment.

And Nunez would be a decent option for the Hammers. Especially for the £27 million fee that has been touted.

In 12 La Liga outings this season, the 23-year-old has averaged 0.8 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 4.3 clearances and 0.8 blocks per game. He has also won 2.5 aerial duals on average per game during that period (Who Scored).

Standing at 6ft 1in tall, Nunez isn’t the tallest of centre-backs. But judging by the amount of aerial duals he wins, he is clearly very strong in the air.

In fact, the Spaniard is described as a strong centre-back who is very good in the air by Inside Athletic (official website for Athletic Bilbao). It is also suggested that the 23-year-old is a fantastic reader of the game.

Whether West Ham will actually submit an offer for Nunez, however, remains to be seen. And more importantly, will the centre-back actually want to move to the London Stadium in the first place?
