West Ham have confirmed on Twitter that Tomas Soucek is likely to miss around three weeks due to injury.
The Czech Republic international was substituted early on in the second-half against Liverpool last night because of a suspected thigh strain.
The 24-year-old has really impressed for the Hammers since joining on loan from Slavia Prague.
Soucek has brought some much needed physicality and energy to West Ham’s play in the middle of the park.
So losing him for up to three weeks will undoubtedly be a huge blow for David Moyes.
In two-and-a-half games for the Hammers, the 6ft 4in midfielder has racked up eight tackles, with a success rate of 75%. He has recorded eight interceptions, one block, 12 clearances and eight ball recoveries (premierleague.com).
If West Ham avoid relegation, they have an exclusive option to buy Soucek, according to Slavia Prague official Stanislav Vlcek.
And their hopes of doing just that will have unquestionably suffered a hit. If the Czech ace is indeed missing for three weeks.
Hopefully Declan Rice and Mark Noble can perform to the very best of their abilities and impress while Soucek is unavailable.
With some tough games on the horizon, however, losing the 24-year-old is the last thing the Hammers needed right now.
