West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media after his side’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa last night, and shared what he told his captain Mark Noble during the half-time interval.
The game really could have gone either way last night, but the Hammers might just have been happy to leave the west Midlands with a point, having lost Arthur Masuaku to a red card with just under 30 minutes still to go.
West Ham played some very good football, but if we’re being harsh, they just weren’t decisive enough in the final third. Pellegrini’s side lacked any kind of cutting edge. A point at Villa Park is never a bad result, however.
Mark Noble put in a shift for his team, but after receiving a booking in the first-half he was forced to live life on the edge with Mike Dean on the prowl.
And Pellegrini shared with reporters what he told his skipper at half-time, as quoted by Football.London:
“I said at half time to Mark, we must be careful. We are playing away, it is not easy to make the mistake for the second card.”
West Ham moved up to eighth place in the table after last night’s draw. Next up for the east London outfit is a home clash against Manchester United on Sunday.
And a win against the Red Devils could see the Hammers jump inside the top four.
