West Ham boss David Moyes spoke to reporters after his side beat Bournemouth 4-0 yesterday, and responded when asked whether he was disappointed that there was no pre-game announcement in the stadium welcoming him back to the club, as quoted by Football.London.
The 56-year-old was in charge of the Hammers from November 2017 to May 2018. And he has been out of work ever since.
Moyes’s appointment as the new West Ham boss was not greeted with much cheer from the club’s fans.
But he could not have wished for a better start than the 4-0 win yesterday.
The hard work has only juts begun for the Hammers, however, with four very tough Premier League games on the horizon.
And the Scot will surely be relishing the challenge ahead.
Moyes responded to reporters when asked about the lack of any pre-game announcement welcoming him back to the club, as quoted by Football.London:
“I wasn’t looking for it, I am quite happy to slip in the back door and get on with the job. Be good at what I do.”
Moyes is spot on. There should be no fanfare. Upon his return, getting results is the most important thing first and foremost.
And West Ham will have to be at their very best over the next few weeks with games against Sheffield United, Everton, Leicester City and Liverpool all to come.
