West Ham signed Pablo Fornals from Villarreal in the summer for £24 million.
And whilst the Spaniard will surely prove to be a hit for the Hammers, he must be given time to settle in at his new club.
The 23-year-old came on as a second-half substitute against Manchester City on the opening day. And he played 77 minutes against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
Fornals has shown glimpses of his talent and potential, but he still needs to adjust to the ferocious pace of the Premier League.
He has been used to having plenty of time on the ball in La Liga – something that he will certainly not have in England.
And the Spaniard admitted that he is still finding it hard to adapt to his new surroundings, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website:
“This is all new for me. It is a new league, a new experience, new stadiums and new rivals. It was a great match, a hard match and I’m happy for my first point in this league. It was very hard for me. I need to play more games to really understand the new game and my new team more.”
The Hammers have made a very concerning start to their Premier League campaign. Not just because of their results, but more so in the manner that they have played.
Fornals will be hoping to settle into life at the London Stadium as soon as possible. And help his team begin their ascent up the table.
