Tottenham ace Harry Winks scored his first goal for England last night, and he was congratulated by West Ham man Declan Rice on Twitter.

The 23-year-old Spurs midfielder has come on leaps and bounds over the past 18 months.

And he is now a key player for both Tottenham and England.

Winks is in direct competition with West Ham’s Rice for the deep-lying midfield role for the Three Lions.

And whilst the Hammers starlet seems to get criticised every time he plays for his country, the Spurs man gets nothing but praise.

There is still a long way to go until the Euros. As things stand, however, Winks is arguably ahead of Rice in the pecking order.

West Ham play host to Tottenham after the international break so both players will have the chance to send a strong message to Gareth Southgate.

It seems as though they are good friends off the pitch, however.
