West Ham ace Declan Rice has taken to Twitter to thank Manuel Pellegrini for the trust that he put in him during his spell in charge of the club.
The Chilean was sacked last night after the Hammers lost 2-1 at home to Leicester City.
The east London outfit are currently in the midst of a dire run of form. They have won just two of their last 13 Premier League games. And have fallen down to 17th spot in the table, just one point clear of the drop zone.
Many West Ham fans believe that Pellegrini should have been sacked a long time ago.
David Moyes is being lined up to replace the 66-year-old, according to Sky Sports.
And the Hammers faithful are not overly enamoured with the prospect of the Scot’s return to the London Stadium.
Pellegrini had his faults, and there were a lot of them, but one thing he did that deserves a lot of praise was giving Rice a chance to play regularly.
From his very first competitive game in charge of West Ham, the former Manchester City boss put his full faith in the 20-year-old England international, playing him week-in, week-out.
Rice has come on leaps and bounds over the past 18 months. And Pellegrini should be given credit for providing the 20-year-old with a platform to showcase his talent.
The England international took to Twitter and thanked the Chilean for giving him a chance to shine:
