West Ham take on Tottenham at the London Stadium on Saturday.
And Spurs will have a new man in the dug-out – Jose Mourinho.
Tottenham parted company with Mauricio Pochettino last night, and appointed the Portuguese serial winner in the Argentine’s place.
The north London outfit have been in woeful form of late. They have taken just three points from their last five Premier League games. And they currently sit in 14th spot in the table, just one point ahead of the Hammers.
West Ham would have really fancied their chances against Tottenham on Saturday. The Lilywhites have been low on confidence, and many of their key men have been misfiring.
Jose Mourinho’s appointment changes everything, however.
Spurs will surely get the added boost of the ‘new manager effect’, and it is typical of West Ham’s luck that they are the first team to face their bitter London rivals.
The Hammers desperately need a win, and their chances of doing that against Tottenham have just become a lot harder.
Mourinho is renowned for organising his teams and making them very hard to beat.
All of the Spurs players will be desperate to impress their new boss. And there will undoubtedly be a spike in their performances.
The Portuguese’s appointment as Tottenham boss could not have come at a worse time for West Ham.
And Manuel Pellegrini’s men will have to be at their very best if they are to earn what would be a vital three points against Mourinho’s side.
