Can Nuno Espirito Santo still save West Ham United?
To think, this was supposed to be the easy part.
Fulham, Brighton and Nottingham Forest at home, plus a trip to bottom-of-the-table Wolves. With such a winnable selection of fixtures, surely seven points was the minimum aim?
Instead, West Ham got one. Not only that, they gifted three to a pair of relegation rivals.
Now, with a much tougher assignment waiting between now and mid-February, how many points do the Hammers realistically need to pick up if they are to stand any chance of repeating their ‘Great Escape’ of 2007?
Was Tomas Soucek right to call Nottingham Forest’s winner ‘a joke’?
Tomas Soucek was left fuming and Alphonse Areola baffled after the penalty which gifted Nottingham Forest an 89th minute winner on Tuesday.
The West Ham keeper certainly gave Morgan Gibbs-White a ‘whack’ around the chops. But was it more of an unavoidable collision than a game-changing foul? Soucek certainly thought so.

El Hadji Malick Diouf and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are due back from the Africa Cup of Nations soon.
And while both are expected to make a speedy return to the starting XI, youngster Scarles has ‘delighted’ Nuno with his aggressive, up-and-at-em performances since he exited the field in tears against Fulham.
The stats certainly suggest that Scarles is a more reliable defender than Diouf. Does he deserve to keep his place?
