Mark Noble has been an absolutely brilliant servant for West Ham over the past 15 years or so.
The 32-year-old, who earns £50,000 per week according to Spotrac, has gone on to make 492 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers, racking up 60 goals and 59 assists in the process (Transfermarkt).
He has been an incredibly consistent player for West Ham. But there have been signs this season that his powers are beginning to wane.
Being the club captain, Noble is still very influential at the London Stadium. But the midfielder certainly should not be playing week-in, week-out.
The 32-year-old’s performance levels have unquestionably dropped over the past couple of months. And his lack of energy, dynamism and athleticism is giving the Hammers a real problem in the middle of the park.
Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice are ideally suited to play as West Ham’s two deep-lying midfielders. But David Moyes seems to be incredibly hesitant to drop Noble.
In 23 Premier League games this season, the West Ham skipper has averaged 0.7 key passes and 0.7 shots per game. He also has just one assist to his name (Who Scored).
Worryingly, Noble has also win less than half of his duals with opponents (premierleague.com).
The 32-year-old is often overrun in midfield, and his passing hasn’t been up to scratch in recent games either.
Some West Ham fans took to Twitter last night, and urged Moyes to drop his captain for tonight’s clash with Liverpool…
