Some West Ham United fans are calling for a change to the club’s kit for the rest of the season.

West Ham find themselves embroiled in a tense relegation battle which is likely to go down to the wire.

David Moyes needs to find another four wins from the final nine games to secure safety.

The Hammers should have got one of them last Saturday when they somehow emerged from the game against Arsenal at The Emirates pointless.

West Ham facing tense battle against the dreaded drop

West Ham dominated but wasteful finishing from Sebastien Haller and Michail Antonio cost them dear.

But their situation in the Premier League is not the only thing agitating some West Ham fans it seems.

West Ham Twitter account Hollywood Hammers is urging the club and kit maker Umbro to stop the side playing in claret shorts with their home kit.

Fans call for traditional kit change

The account is calling on the club to return to the traditional white shorts, particularly given those were the shorts worn with the old Admiral kit Umbro has tried to recreate this season.

“Enough is enough,” Hollywood Hammers said this week.

“West Ham must no longer wear these horrible claret shorts at home. Back to white until end of season Umbro UK. Who else agrees?

“Umbro UK  you wanted to re-create this wonderful kit. But you didn’t and it’s just of a number of little annoyances that all add up.”

‘White shorts part of getting our West Ham back’

Many Hammers fans agreed. But some others pointed out there are more important things to worry about given the grave situation West Ham find themselves in.

West Ham fans are protesting against the board this season to – amongst other things – ‘get their West Ham back’.

And it was claimed by some fans that the white shorts and socks are another tradition that has been eroded from the club which must be reinstated.

Here are a selection of responses to the demand from some West Ham fans on Twitter.

‘We have far greater concerns’
