Sofiane Feghouli shared the reasons why he left West Ham, when speaking exclusively to Turkish media outlet Actu Foot.

The 29-year-old was signed by Slaven Bilic for the Hammers in the summer of 2016 on a free transfer.

The winger badly flopped at the London Stadium, however, making just 27 appearances in all competitions for West Ham and scoring just four goals.

Feghouli was swiftly moved on to Galatasaray in August 2017 for around £3.5 million, according to BBC Sport.

The 59-capped Algeria international has been much more successful in Turkey. He has racked up 20 goals and 18 assists in 77 appearances in all competitions for Gala.

And Feghouli told Actu Foot why he chose to leave the London Stadium two years ago:

“In England, football is totally different. Unfortunately, I had a lot of physical and personal problems. In the end, I could not express my game and show what I was capable of. During mid-season, I had opportunities to start over again, but the club didn’t want to let me go. I had to wait until the end of the season to join Galatasaray. I swapped for them because I liked their project and the desire to win titles.”

The Algerian’s decision already looks like an inspired one. He has already won two league titles with the Turkish giants.

And despite the fact that they quality of football in Turkey is well below that of the Premier League, at least the former West Ham man has some medals to show for his efforts.
