Charlie Nicholas predicted that West Ham will get thrashed 4-0 by Manchester City on Sunday, when writing his regular column for Sky Sports, whilst accusing the Hammers players of only showing up for 25 minutes in each game.
The east London outfit are bang in trouble. They sit in 18th spot in the Premier League table, one point adrift of safety, and they have an absolutely shocking run of fixtures to come over the next couple of months.
West Ham face trips to Manchester City and Liverpool next, before playing host to a resurgent Southampton side. They then travel to Arsenal before welcoming Wolves to the London Stadium. The Hammers complete their nightmare run with an away game against Tottenham and a home match against Chelsea.
Considering their current position, things are looking very bleak for David Moyes’s side.
And Charlie Nicholas predicted more misery for West Ham this week, when writing his column for Sky Sports:
“When I look at Pep Guardiola’s side, I see a genius in pain. Everyone loves his style of play, the grip he has on players, the strain he puts on his players and himself. I have always loved it; even when he loses, he is angry and agitated. It is so typical of West Ham at the moment that they occasionally turn up, put in a performance for 25 minutes, but if they lose a goal then it is game over. It is not a happy time but David Moyes will have to dig in.”
CHARLIE PREDICTS: Manchester City 4-0 West Ham
It’s hard to read, but Nicholas is right. The Hammers have an absolutely shocking record against City. They have lost all of their last seven meetings with the defending Premier League champions and have only won once at the Etihad.
History is certainly against West Ham, but who knows, stranger things have happened in football.
If every single one of David Moyes’s side puts in at least an 8/10 performance, they might just be able to shock Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday.
