Robert Snodgrass has a great opportunity to prove his worth to West Ham over the next four or five months.
Michail Antonio could be out until at least January after sustaining a hamstring injury.
And that frees up space on the right wing.
Andriy Yarmolenko has only recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and he currently seems to be ahead of Snodgrass in the pecking order at West Ham.
And the Scotland international really must prove to Pellegrini that he is deserving of a spot in the starting XI ahead of the Ukraine international, otherwise his future at the London Stadium will be looking bleak.
Snodgrass, who currently earns around £40,000 per week according to Spotrac, only recently signed a new deal with the Hammers. One that expires in the summer of 2021.
So if he hasn’t established himself as a first-team regular by the end of this season, Pellegrini could be tempted to cash in on the Scot in the summer.
On his day, Snodgrass is a top class player. And he has to demonstrate his quality in training.
He experienced somewhat of a purple patch midway through last season. And he needs to somehow rediscover that form.
With Antonio out for the foreseeable future, the Scot has to take advantage of his teammate’s misfortune.
Yarmolenko is still standing in his way, but Snodgrass must live up to challenge. It could be a case of now or never for the 32-year-old.
