West Ham starlet Declan Rice is regarded by many as one of the most exciting young talents in world football.
The 20-year-old burst onto the scene with the Hammers last season, and he was subsequently rewarded with a new contract – one that runs until the summer of 2024.
He was undoubtedly one of West Ham’s best players last season, and his fine displays did not go unnoticed.
According to the Sun, Manchester United and Manchester City are both keen to sign the Hammers youngster.
The fact that those two clubs allegedly want to sign Rice says it all about his talent.
It seems as though not everyone in the game have been blown away by the England international, however.
Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas isn’t convinced that he is a ‘superstar footballer’:
“Declan Rice is not a superstar footballer. He is a very talented and progressive player who will get better, but West Ham are about creative ability and making chances, which Rice does not do.”
Whilst Rice can undoubtedly still improve, Nicholas’s comments certainly don’t do the 20-year-old justice.
He plays with a certain kind of composure and maturity that defies his tender years, and West Ham fans will disagree with the Sky Sports pundit.
The England international might not be the whole package just yet, but he is a superstar in the eyes’ of the Hammers faithful.
