Charlie Nicholas backed Arsenal to beat West Ham 3-1 on Monday night, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports.
The Hammers and the Gunners are both in the midst of poor runs of form.
West Ham have won just one out of their last nine Premier League games. Arsenal, meanwhile, are winless in seven league matches.
Neither side has impressed at all this season. They are both desperately out of form and low on confidence.
There is no identity to Manuel Pellegrini’s side nor Freddie Ljungberg’s.
Monday’s match is absolutely huge for both teams.
If West Ham or Arsenal do not win on Monday night, they will seem destined for mid-table mediocrity this season.
Nicholas believes that the Gunners will have enough to beat the Hammers, however.
He told Sky Sports:
“These are two teams in a right mess. I saw more fight from Arsenal at Norwich, but it was a disaster defensively and a crazy team selection from Freddie Ljungberg. West Ham will be up for it, as will Arsenal – they have a chance of catching up and getting back in the top six. A bit of momentum can get you there. They have class up top, but West Ham are not showing a lot at the moment.”
CHARLIE PREDICTS: 1-3
The Hammers beat the Gunners the last time the two sides met.
Arsenal have not won away at West Ham since 2016, and judging by their recent away form, they will find it tough going again on Monday night.
Nicholas’s prediction seems to be rather biased to say the least, considering his links to the north London outfit.
And if West Ham are on their best form, they will have a great chance of beating the misfiring Gunners.
