Over the course of the season, Manuel Pellegrini would have been keeping his tabs on West Ham’s 13 players out on loan.
They will face into three categories. Firstly, there are candidates to break into the first-team next season. Secondly, there are those who need more time out on loan or in the youth side.
And thirdly, there are those who face the axe this summer. Here are three current loanees likely to be sold by West Ham this summer.
Sam Byram

Sam Byram joined West Ham from Leeds United with a high reputation in January 2016 but injuries and form have held him back.
Rather than solve West Ham’s right-back situation, the 25-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements and sent on loan to Nottingham Forest last summer.
But Byram picked up a serious injury which has kept him out since August, surely damaging any remaining hope of salvaging his West Ham career.
Jordan Hugill

David Moyes splashed a hefty £10m (BBC Sport) on Preston North End’s Jordan Hugill in January 2018 but he only made three substitute appearances for West Ham.
The 26-year-old is a grafter but he was clearly not Premier League ready so Pellegrini sent him on loan to Middlesbrough.
Hugill has not set the world alight at Boro, scoring seven in 35, and he is unlikely to feature in Pellegrini’s 2019/20 plans.
Martin Samuelsen

When West Ham signed Manchester City midfielder Martin Samuelsen, there was a lot of excitement.
The Norway international ran rings around defenders and impressed on loan at Peterborough United with Hammers fans sure he would be a first-team star.
But the 21-year-old’s last two seasons have been poor: a failed loan spell at VVV Venlo was cut short in January 2019 and now he is at Haugesund in Norway, where he faces an uphill struggle to convince West Ham not to axe him permanently.
