Hammers ace Ryan Frederick offered high words of praise for the West Ham fans, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website.

The east London outfit are currently in the midst of a woeful run of form, having taken just two points from their last six league games.

West Ham have slumped to 16th place in the table. And they sit just five points clear of the drop zone.

In fairness, Fredericks has been one of the few players who deserves some credit from the last six weeks or so.

The right-back always gives 100 per cent, and he undoubtedly makes the Hammers a better side both defensively and in the final third.

The 27-year-old spoke exclusively to WHUFC.com, and highlighted just how important the club’s fans are to the players:

“We need to stick together. We’re not giving the fans much to sing about and be happy about at the moment, but they’re a loyal bunch of fans, we know that. We get 60,000 turn up every week and credit to them. We’re not doing enough for them, but this is when we really need to stick together. This is a tough little spell but last season we did well against the better teams and we’re going to do everything we can to get three points against Spurs.”

Loyalty shouldn’t be taken for granted…

Fredericks’ comments are all well and good, but the players cannot take the fans’ loyalty for granted. They have to start producing on the pitch.

And when Tottenham come into town in a couple of weeks, Manuel Pellegrini’s men will need the London Stadium to be in full voice.

Nothing less than a win will do. If they lose, however, it could be the end of the road for Pellegrini.
