West Ham want to sign £26 million-rated Brazilian hitman Gabriel Barbosa in either January or next summer, according to Italian media outlet Passione Inter.
The 23-year-old is currently on loan with Brazilian side Flamengo from Inter Milan.
And he has been on fire.
Gabigol has banged in 31 goals in 38 games.
The Inter-owned ace has been likened to fellow countryman Gabriel Jesus in the way that he plays, and he would be an excellent addition for West Ham, if they manage to sign him.
Barbosa enjoyed an incredibly emotional night yesterday.
His Flamengo side won the Copa Libertadores against River Plate yesterday, but the match was not without incident.
Gabigol’s side were heading into injury time trailing 1-0 when the 23-year-old struck twice in the 89th and 92nd minute.
The 23-year-old was then sent off deep into injury time, but his side held on to win South America’s version of the Champions League for only the second time.
The Brazilian season is close to finishing, so Gabigol will return to Inter soon.
And if West Ham can come up with somewhere in the region of £26 million, the striker could swap Milan for east London.
He proved that he has what it takes on the biggest stage last night. And the West Ham scouts were surely keeping a close eye on his display.
