Report: West Ham will have to pay £8.5m if they want to sign Adri Embarba

According to a report from Spanish media outlet Marca, West Ham will have to pay Adri Embarba’s full €10 million (£8.5 million) release clause if they want to sign him from Rayo Vallecano this month.

Mundo Deportivo claimed yesterday that the Hammers are set to battle Leeds United, Norwich City and Espanyol for the 27-year-old’s signature.

Embarba has been in fine for for Vallecano this season, racking up seven goals and 11 assists in 23 league games.

He is an industrious winger, and always gives 100 per cent. The Spaniard is also very productive, as his goals and assists record this season proves.

Marca claims that West Ham will have to pay £8.5 million if they want to sign Embarba this month, however.

Could be good value

In this day and age, £8.5 million for someone of Embarba’s quality has to be considered as good value for money.

The Hammers are desperate for more strength in depth in the final third, and the Vallecano ace would certainly provide more competition for the likes of Michail Antonio and Felipe Anderson.

There is a word of warning, however. Embarba has been plying his trade in Spain’s second tier this season. And the jump up in quality and intensity to the Premier League might just prove to be too much for the winger.

No transfers are made without risk, however.

And the Vallecano ace could very well prove to be a hit for West Ham. Much will depend on whether the Hammers owners will be prepared to take a punt on the Spaniard, however.
