West Ham are ready to extend Josh Cullen’s contract, according to a report from Football Insider.
The 23-year-old midfielder is currently on loan with Championship side Charlton Athletic.
The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Leeds, West Brom, Bournemouth and Norwich City are all keen to sign the Hammers man.
Cullen’s contract with West Ham is actually set to expire in the summer.
But the Hammers have an option to extend that deal by 12 months, according to Football Insider.
And the east London outfit are allegedly ready to activate said option.
Cullen has made 25 Championship appearances for Charlton this season. He has racked up just one goal and one assist during those outings (Transfermarkt).
The 23-year-old has hardly set the world alight. So perhaps West Ham are planning to extend his deal just to increase his worth. It would, of course, prevent the Republic of Ireland international from leaving on a free transfer in the summer.
Really, at his age, Cullen really should have shown more than he already has. And perhaps a move to the Championship would be one that suits all parties involved.
