According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is prepared to play either Lukasz Fabianski or David Martin against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, even if neither player is fully fit.
Hammers fans are desperate for Fabianski to make his long-awaited return.
West Ham have been in free fall since the Pole suffered an injury against Bournemouth at the end of September.
Spanish flop Roberto initially took the 34-year-old’s place, but after a succession of horror shows he was replaced by Martin.
The 33-year-old Englishman suffered a groin injury away at Southampton on Saturday, however.
And with Fabianski touch and go for the Palace clash, West Ham face the very real prospect of having to recall the calamitous Roberto.
Football Insider claims that Pellegrini is prepared to take drastic action, however, and risk either Fabianski or Martin, rather than playing the 33-year-old Spaniard.
And West Ham fans will be absolutely delighted with that news.
As harsh as it may seem, Roberto should be nowhere near the Hammers squad. And the sooner he leaves the club the better.
