Mark Noble is set to play a reduced role for West Ham next season, according to a report from reliable insiders Claret and Hugh.
The 32-year-old Hammers skipper will be 33 before the summer, and his powers are clearly beginning to wane.
The Canning Town born midfielder was never the quickest, but he has definitely lost a yard of pace this season.
He has been slow and cumbersome when in possession, and his passing hasn’t been as on point as usual.
In 26 Premier League outings this season, the midfielder has averaged just 0.8 key passes per game. He has also averaged just 0.7 interceptions and 0.3 clearances during those appearances (Who Scored).
Many West Ham fans were calling for Noble to be dropped before the recent coronavirus outbreak.
Claret and Hugh claims that the 32-year-old is set for a reduced role in the Hammers team next season.
Much will obviously depend on whether West Ham manage to sign Tomas Soucek permanently or not in the summer. And whether someone like Conor Coventry can step and be classed as a first-team regular.
Noble has been a great servant for the Hammers. He is currently earning around £45,000 per week according to reliable West Ham insider Sean Whetstone.
But if the east London outfit really want to make genuine progress next season, it will only be right for the experienced midfielder to take a back seat between now and the end of his career.
